In 1989, the Vigor would differentiate itself further from the Accord with unique styling and an available longitudinal five-cylinder engine, and a twin to the Vigor was introduced with the Honda Inspire, available at Honda Clio dealerships. In Japan wechselte die Modellbezeichnung zudem auf Honda Inspire. Mit der Einführung der Marke Acura wurde dieses Modell dann 1991 im Zuge eines Modellwechsels in den USA als Acura Vigor eingeführt. Bereits 1981 war die Modellbezeichnung Vigor von Honda für eine nur in Japan angebotene Edel-Version des Honda Accord eingeführt worden.
